Calculating Defense Per Acre RAW <TOP>
When we say "RAW" we mean the total number before it is modified, by things such as Science, Spells, Race bonus and Buildings.
The reason Defense Per Acre RAW is the top link is it is up in the top 5 MOST important things in utopia, having a lack of defense means you will get hit, and getting hit stops your growth, and your ultimate goal is to grow. Here is an EXAMPLE of how to calculate DPA RAW (If you don't have a website or program available to calculate it for you, if your lazy)
Undead Elite's
are 5 defense points 6 attack points
E.G. 500 acre Undead with
3000 Elites
3000 Times 5 = 15,000
defense points
15,000 Divided by 500
= 30 Defense per acre (DPA)
If you have Defense specs and Elites (specs being 4points)
E.G. 500 Acre Undead with 1000 Elites and 2000 Specs.
1000 Times 5 = 5,000 defense points then
2000 times 4 = 8,000 Defense points so its
5,000 Plus 8,000 = 13,000 Defense points
Divide that by 500 acres to get 26 DPA RAW
Calculating Defense Per Acre MOD <TOP>
The best way to do this is to have Angel running and copy all the info in the table in THRONE menu, then open up the military calculator and "swap panels" make sure any elites you have transfer to the RIGHT side.
Add in any Forts you have and Protection Spells and Monarchy or not then in the centre of the attack calculator it will have "Modified Defence" and under that "Modified DPA" and there you have your DPA MOD
Calculating Offence Per Acre RAW <TOP>
When we say "RAW" we mean the total number before it is modified, by things such as Science, Spells, Race bonus and Buildings.
We mainly only need this when we are an attacker who uses Elites for defense AND attack and you want to know how many units you can send while leaving enough home to defend your lands. This is not needed as much anymore as elites are hard to come by, but it still works.
When I refer to "Recommended DPA" (RDPA) most good monarchs will post a current Recommended DPA for the kingdom to know what DPA RAW it should have at that time in the round as the age starts off its small maybe 9 DPA RAW at OOP (Out Of Protection) and near the end of the age it can be 45 DPA RAW and above)
Undead Elite 5
defense
points 6 attack points
E.G. 500 acre Undead with
3000 Elites
Get the recommended DPA lets
say 25 so its
500 * 25 = 12,500 points
3000 * 6 = 18,000 points
18,000 - 12,500 = 5,500
Offence points
5,500 Divided by 500 acres
= 11 OPA (Offence per acre)

You want to know how to get those Build percentages (%)
load up angel, go to Growth then up the top click "INTERNAL AFFAIRS"
It will load up a page of building % now press CTRL-A then CTRL-C
Angel will format it, then right click on the little blue ball on angel and go to
"BUILD CALCULATOR" input what % you want and then it will tell you
what you need to build or raze to get the desired %
Trade Balance is another Good yet at the same time Bad feature in Utopia, it does help stop kingdoms feeding players into the top ranks but it does hurt those smaller kingdoms and those poor monarchs of ghettos who might outgrow there kingdom mates and if he/she needs aid it will cause them a negative trade balance but if they give newbie's aid and help then it would not effect because you are x2 bigger than them, I know I have been caught in this before, Giving out millions of gold each week then being gangbanged and getting aid and it killing my trade balance. If that happens and you have a MASSIVE NEGATIVE Trade Balance then here is a few simple steps on how to "FIX" that Trade Balance.
Lets say someone has quit your kingdom and sent you lots of aid,
your networth is 100k and your trade balance is -300,000gcs
its easy to fix. especially if your in a smaller kingdom with inactives.
Find an inactive in your kingdom with a networth of 50k or more,
check to see if he/she have low thieves, send that province aid then
STEAL IT BACK... Pretty simple.
Remember
getting your trade balance X4 your networth will increase your happiness.
This in MY OPINION is one of the most useless spells in utopia, when I was first attacked by someone who had cast this spell it took me maybe 10 minutes to figure out ways to see who in the attackers kingdom hit me. Here are those steps.
1-
Make a kingdom list .
2-
Open angel, put the acres that the person HIT had (before the hit) in the RIGHT
side and move the acre number up on the LEFT until you get very close to the
size of the would be attacker then eliminate all those 100 acres bigger or
smaller
3-
Eliminate those who don't have Anonymity spell (only Humans, Halflings and Faerys
have the spell)
4-
Make a CE and eliminate those who have attacked
5-
Make some SoMs and if anyone has army out and is not marked in CE then bingo
(remember if you use 1 thief the numbers may be out so don't get confused!)
Usually you can have the attacker by the 3rd step the other steps are just extra ways. this is why I think Anonymity is so useless as a spell.
This is a great spell, with a few active Rogue personality races who have this spell you can really cripple any opponent. Any kingdom with a group of active Mages should be either into nightmare which will make it easier to attack the target or tornadoes which is explained below.
Tornadoes <TOP>
The Tornadoes spell owns. With Elf's being one of the most chosen races and with the ability for this spell I can see groups of Elf Mystics take out so many attackers in war I mean you can tornadoes
up to like 100 acres a spell do this a few times and you will over pop the opponent making it impossible at that time to send out army an attack and there you have disabled an opponent.
Over Populating <TOP>
Thieves beware, one
thing which can cause you a problem in war or just in general if you kidnap
someone too much you run the risk of over populating yourself which will mean
your thieves will refuse to work for you. so just keep that in mind. Its not a
hugely common thing but can happen.
Being overpopulated is annoying as it stops you from being able to attack, and
thief and causes negatives in happiness. Usually in order to fix it you have to
go back to go forward by releasing army, thief's, wizards to be able to
explore/attack again and gain land back.
There is 2 ways to do this, the Easy way and the longer almost as easy way...
1) http://www.utopiatemple.com/demographics.php this is quick way to search through the island then if you wish to find a target being very lazy, which doesn't really help you learn but you could get a nice grab...

2) Its pretty easy to quickly check through the island list.
where is says "nw-42" change it to
another number like 41, 40 or any and it will load up the lists for THAT island.
When thinking about What target you want you first have to look at your own provence. Are you a good attacker I mean do you have high DPA and OPA? just High OPA and ok DPA or which ever. IN MY OPINION Never ever hit someone with higher defence than you have when you have army out, ESPECIALLY if your hitting an attacker, why? Most likely they will hit you back and where is the gain in that? Loss of army, loss of built land, gain maybe gain 100 acres from a 500 acre grab and then you gotta pay to build on it. So where is the growth? I mean better off exploring.
But anyway onto attacking, you wanna first look at the Attacker races. Then do a simple calculation to find the networth per acre... or use angel to copy the targets kingdom page and see it. The Formula is
Networth Devided by Acres = X E.g. 500k and 3500 acres would be 500,000 / 3500 = 142 Net/Per Acre... This is pretty Normal N/PA. If an attacker has this and you can wait and see if they use elites to attack then if they hit and you find no better targets then take a look see. If you find an attacker with 130 or under N/PA then definitly take a look. same with explorers as they might have theifs and wizards upp the N/PA and that DOES NOT help them in defence of the land. REMEMBER Explorers cannot retaliate you, but also make sure there kigndom cannot, THATS where bottom feeding all started but if you hit honourable and don't keep feeding from same people then you most of the time will not be retaliated.I could call this section "OTHER" but I think General Tips is fine, this is just a bunch of things that might be said to players while chatting, or in certain situations, so why not write them down and learn them all at once? well now you can and here they are.
#1 - CB results are always exact #2 - when sending aid there is 2 ways you can send aid one is the more common E.g. 30,000 or the more unknown 30k (k being 1000) it also works for M for Million (1M = 1,000,000) #3 - Getting the (near) perfect SoM: Using angel, take 3 steps. First, copy the Kingdom page of the attacker. Next, take a fresh CB and copy that too. Last, take a SoM with 7-10 thieves and copy that too. (If your SoM fails, try sending more thieves),#19 - Any DPA's set here will change it changes every age so play it by ear, look for what other people your size are running
#20 - Must get ICQ or MSN, Everyone uses them.
#21 - Ask questions. If you are ever unsure of what to do, go to your kingdom forum or to the forum at UtopiaTemple and ask what you are unsure about. There's always going to be someone who knows the answer.

Figuring out that attacker <TOP>
Last few rounds Mehul has basically banned this kingdom name strategy but I think it was quite good, although I never used it, it did make me work for my retaliation, but just like Anonymity its flawed, this one took me mere seconds to figure out who had attacked me, let me show you an example.
There is a kingdom with 25 provinces looking like this...

Now lets say IiiIIiIIiI (99:99) attacks you, Dam hey? Well NO its simple test it here, copy the selected name then press CTRL-C (Copy) now press CTRL-F (Find in page) and paste in the province name and click "find" it will highlight it, as it will in a kingdom list, from there you can count how many from top, or bottom or from the monarch that person is, then you can calculate your retaliation.
Honor Raping with no retaliation <TOP>
This is fun, if your active enough you can end TOP honor rankings with this. Especially if your in a ghetto kingdom, back when Elf's first were able to cast self spells on those in there kingdom is when I first realized I can do this successfully as it added extra honor, but this can be done with nay race, first you want to be a thief mage with high towers maybe 30 or 40% you may look like a farm but you will need them. Find an inactive and SPELL HIM/HER The worse the spell the more the honor points, seeing each province starts with about 1000 honor and if you use all your mana on honor raping inactive within 2 months that's ALLOT of spells and ALLOT of honor... Try it, I did it, I got to #25 over all for honor, yes I ended up getting gangbanged to death, but that was not because of the honor. If your good you can average 30-70 Honor points a day, not bad! Of course you can get ALLOT more attacking but you usually get retaliated and there goes the honor.

Personally these
days I don't believe science pumps are worth it, I tried it in age 21 and was
having 3000 points decay an hour, was not worth the effort.
Ok Here is a science pump
everyone should read all of what is written
at 2000-2200 acres some do a science
pump.
Science pumps -
explorers shouldn't have to science pump if they are good enuff - just run 20 %
libraries all age and you should be able to keep good sciences
If your doing a science pump run this
25 % unis
10 % farms
rest banks/farms
During a science pump, max out income and housing first - then move on to the
rest
if your an attacker get war and no real need for Crime or
Channeling
Now you set your draft to 0% Now what you do for the next maybe up to 7-14 days is nothing but science pump all your money you steal, get as aid and make goes to science.
This many points...
Aim for 300,000 points on each science option this will last you untill about
6000 acres, with an income of bout 250k an hour it will take about 1 week to
complete.

So your a new monarch and want to know some nice tips on how to beat that opposing kingdom, I will give you some Simple strats, made for working class wars and ghetto wars. Top kingdoms usually have there own strats as they are all so active.
First you need to look at your opponents kingdom, see those big enough to make attacks (e.g. big Orcs, Avians, Dwarfs, Undeads), see who looks like a thief (usually higher honor) then you as a monarch can usually do most of this but its good to have another 1 or 2 people online go through the whole kingdom getting "Crystal Ball" of all the members. make sure you first load up utopia angel and go to "KINGDOM" and then input the WAR kingdoms location press CTRL-A then CTRL-C this will copy the kingdom page of the opponents and when you get CB's it will estimate the thief ratio and wizards. now once you have all the cbs or most if its just you, then post it all in the forum under maybe "CB data" then make a thread called "WAR ORGANIZATION" in here you will have gone over all the cbs info and see who has the lowest thieves so you steal there food and resources, see who are the thief's in the war kingdom and see who the attackers are and weigh up who might attack who. You should know what spec your kingdom mates are if they are Attackers or Thief/Mages so you can assign certain people to certain people in the war kingdom.
Secondly now that you have all the CB data in a post under your WAR ORGANIZATION you post a formatted CB DATA info list. This will take about 1 hour but is worth it as your kingdom will love you for it, make it look something like this.

I will not lie to you, it takes time, and allot of concentration, BUT if you want to be a great monarch you are going to have to put in the time, sure you can get a program to do this and maybe some already have (I would love a copy) but doing things like this will help out immensely in war, you can look at this small list and say I want gold and I have 2:1 TPA so Enemy Province is a good target.
Another Kingdom war strategy is to collect up soldiers and send them to 1 player a more smaller player who can then cast aggression and hit provinces allot bigger than him taking lots more land. This strategy is frowned upon in the higher ranks but from working class to ghetto its fine, do it, sure it messes the trade balance but just send the soldiers back when they return. You should have enough defense by then.
Remember Nightmare, its an amazing Mage ability, read my section on it and use it in war.
The Plague, this is funny, I like it, if you give it to someone they can then give it to someone else. E.G. I hit an opponent and give him the plague, he now has reduced defense so another member of my kingdom hit him, and they contract the plague, so they have reduced defense and then someone from the opposing kingdom hits them, and contracts the plague. Funny? Hell Yeah, I seen it done several times, Basically is the plague is good but if your not a sage, be careful.
Make sure everyone in your kingdom has cast "Reflect Magic" this is an awesome defensive spell, I have seen 8 meteors be reflected back upon the sender. that's defense! and cast Magic Shield or Mystic Aura these help as well.
Remember in war that COMMUNICATION, KEEPING DEFENSE, HONOUR AND FAIR PLAY are the key to getting the enemy to surrender, if you keep the information flowing, your defense up and you don't do things that could cause them to call in allies then you will have no problem getting them to surrender.
Alliances... The Good and Bad <TOP>
In my experience as a 16 Age player, Alliance leader for 11 or 12 ages and monarch/regent of countless kingdoms I have found Alliances to be a waste of time, most alliances are formed around its leader, meaning he will Offer help if they offer help in return which is mainly what they ask for your help in this and that, most of the time to protect them in war.
Joining an alliance makes you Obligated to help them when they say, putting you in positions where your kingdom loyalty, friendship loyalty and honour loyalty is in question. I mean say your a member of AAC (Alliances Are Crap) and your kingdom is not, your Monarch decided to war an AAC Kingdom, what do you do, Fight against this alliance being loyal to your kingdom and kingdom mates or loyal to your alliance and forget your kingdom and abstain from the fight, I mean there is no exception here.
Say your kingdom joins an alliance you are obligated to do things that may not be in favour of kingdom growth and you may not be in the right, your alliance leader could have started a war over nothing been in the wrong and just to defend his/her lies they declare a war. I mean is it worth it?
The best
alliance is your kingdom, you all can work together and take on any opponent,
an if say some pathetic alliance decides to bash your kingdom for no reason then
call on friends, message large kingdoms and ask them to message the offenders
and have them stop, don't ask them for military support until they have had a
shot at trying to resolve the issue.
Age 22 Update - I have spent 1 year training a AWESOME kingdom and to be in top
ranks these days you either need alot of friends or an alliance, YES I still
believe alliances are bad and should not be in Utopia but you need them for
protection if you have a small member but good growing kingdom (like mine 15
players but always ending top of island)

Q.
More than half my land is built. Why can't I explore?
A. For some reason, you now have to have more land built/in progress than double the
land in exploration + barren land. So if all my land is build and I have 100 acres in
exploration, I'd have to have more than 200 acres built/in progress in order to explore.
Q. I'm playing a thief, so why do I have to worry about my peasants dreaming of large
armies? If I'm playing attacker why do I have to worry about peasants being happy with
my thief successfulness?
A. You can focus on thief ops to gain happiness as well. Happiness isn't necessarily
something you can satisfy on all fronts (attacker, mage, thief, explorer).
Q. why is my happiness below Happy if I don't have any messages under the Civilian
advisor?
A. The civilian advisor only displays "Noteworthy" concerns. Even though a concern is
not Noteworthy, does not mean that it doesn't exsist. Most likely there are many little
things wrong that are making your peasies not happy...
Q. Why is my max population more than my total population, but I am not getting any
peasants when the hour changes?
A. You have the plague, from either attacking an undead province or an already plagued
province, or being attacked by one of these.
Q. Why isn't my income 3.0gc x Peasants when the advisor says it is.?
A. "Peasants" is poorly worded. The game should state that "employed peasants" or
"filled jobs" earn 3.0gc per hour. You take the smaller of your peasants and jobs. Since
later on, # of peasants is often smaller than # of jobs, the choice was probably made to
oversimplify it. But peasants only provide income when employed. Also, you have to
factor in bonuses such as being human, science, banks, and mines.
Q. My income still isn't right. Why not?
A. You might have riots on you, or if you're in war you have an income defecit.
*SPELLS*
Q.
Why did I lose "paradise" from my spell list?
A. You are at war - see the Relations section of the guide.
Q. Why isn't mind focus working?
A. Mind focus boosts science points as they arrive. Casting it has no immediate, visible
impact. Arriving points are boosted by +10% for the duration of the mind focus spell.
Q. Why doesn't builder's boon work?
A. After you cast it, your build time will be reduced. The figure usually quoted is 10%,
although some people have complained of it having no effect with build times of around
10 hours. Also, you have to build AFTER you cast the spell to have any effect.
Q. How does Nature's Blessing's 20% chance of curing plague work?
A. Each time you cast the spell, if you have the plague you have a 20% chance of getting
rid of it. It does NOT help prevent the plague, and leaving it on won't give u a 20%
chance of curing it each hour.
*THIEF OPERATIONS*
Q. Why do I have riots, when I'm a Merchant?
A. Riots will still happen. The message about reducing your tax revenues is erroneous.
As a Merchant, your income is not impacted by riots.
Q. Why when I use propaganda do I return with 0 of whatever I'm taking sometimes?
A. Propaganda is an operation that randomly chooses between thieves, wizards, elites,
specs to take. It will often select units that the target has zero of or just plain very
few. This is why you should be selective when choosing this operation. Also, if you do
not send enough thieves it is possible for you to return with zero. Regardless, you will
still get honor from this.
*ATTACKING/MILITARY*
Q. Why didn't I gain elites during my attack?
A. You need to pick challenging targets near your size. Targets with low defense, or
smaller than your province, will not likely yield elites. Elite conversion is a reward
for attacking worthwhile opponents.
Q. Why can't I send mercenaries on my attacks?
A. You are a dwarf and dwarves can not send mercenaries, or you do not have enough money
to pay for them. Dwarves CAN send prisoners, though.
Q. I failed an attack using mercenaries, but after the attack I still had the money. Why
didn't they go to combat?
A. For some reason, when you fail an attack with mercenaries, you do not have to pay for
them.
Q. Why do my elites cost more than what the guide says they do?
A. Elites cost $1 extra for every 3 acres you grow past 500 acres.
Q. I got elites that I never trained and didn't convert from attacking. How?
A. If you have armories you have a chance of some of your specialist units converting
into elites each hour.
*BUILDINGS*
Q. Why can't I build stables?
A. You are an avian and avians do not have the option to use stables.
*RACE/PERSONALITY*
Q.
What good does it do to be an Undead Rogue?
A. Undead Rogues have access to all thief operations.
Q: Why can dwarves build dungeons in they cant use mercenaries?
A: Dwarves CAN use prisoners as free mercenaries, they cannot get third-party paid
mercs.

A. Bonuses are multiplicative, not additive. In other words, the elf with 15% hospitals
would have .4 * .65 = .26, or -74%, combat losses.

Does +100% avian elite conversion mean all my specialists will become elites
A. No, this means you will have double elite conversion if you're an avian.

Q. Why can't I surrender when there have been no attacks by my kingdom for 3 Utopian
days?
A. The time limit is based on real time. So if somebody attacked at the very END of an
hour, you would have to wait to surrender after the very END of the hour 3 hours later.
(ie. last attack at 4:28, can't surrender till after 7:28)
Q. Do thief ops and spell move the hostile meter? the war meter?
A. Hostile: yes. war: no, except land lust

Q. What is vacation mode?
A. By going into vacation mode you put your province into protection for a minimum of 3
days. During this time you will not be able to log in, and everything in your province
will stop (simply put, your province will be the exact same size, have the same money,
peasants, military, etc as when u left)
Q. I set vacation before I left for holidays, then when I was back I realised I never
was in vacation, why?
A. Your province will NOT go in protection mode if you do ANY spells, thief ops, or
attacks on ANYBODY after you set your province to go into vacation.
Q. Why when I try to make an account it says that the game is full?
A. The game is not actually full, but the server thinks it is because the method the
server places new provinces in the game. If you can't create an account just keep
trying, soon it will give you a spot.
Q. When I first log in to my province (transferring in beginning of age only I believe)
Why does it say my email is wrong?
A. If you have a SWIRVE email account, the address is YourEmail@swirvemail.com. This
changed an age or two ago and u're just not used to it.
Q. Why can't I defect?
A. You have either used up your 3 defections already, or the server believes that there
are no spots because it randomly selects kingdoms. Just keep trying.
Q. How many soldiers do I need to send to damage a dragon?
A. In order to make 1% damage to a dragon, you need to send X soldiers such that X=YOUR
kingdom's networth divided by 3000.
Q. Why did Angel say that I
would gain _____ acres but I gained less? Why did Angel say
I had 100% chance of success but I still failed my attack? Why did Angel say anything
would happen that didn't actually happen?
A. Angel is not made by Utopia, therefore nothing it guarantees is something you can
rely on in the game. Though it is useful, it is not as perfect, so don't rely on it
completely. Your Utopian experience will be far more enjoyable if you learn how the game
works and can do all your calculations yourself.
Q. Why does it say I can't get in my kingdom forums?
A. Depending on the situation, you can, but you'll need to clear your cookies, check
browser security settings, delete your temporary internet files, and/or exit out of your
browser. Having done that, if you have a problem try rebooting your computer and try
accesing your kingdom forums after that. Also, generally this only comes up in 1-2
circumstances 1: more than one account is being played from your computer, 2: somebody
changed the monarchy to or from yourself.
Q. What does (place acronym here, such as MP, TTT, etc) mean?

A. As long as you're not hitting each other, helping each other, or hitting the same
people, you should not have any problems getting deleted.

*SPELLS*
Thalius, alliance leader of VAT, asked the good question: If my my spell says,
"(Estimated: 1 more Days)," do I need to cast it again before the hour changes
or should I wait until after?
A.
It really depends on the spell. Spells like Fertile Lands, Love and Peace, and
Mind Focus are all spells whose effects occur right at the hour change. For
these spells, their last effect will take place on the hour it expires (ie.
Thalius's Love and Peace will give him extra peasants the next hour change, but
he'll need to re-cast it next hour for continuous effects). However, Spells like
Inspire Army, Minor Protection, and Builders' Boon have their effects DURING the
hour. So if this were one of these types of spells you need to do one of two
things: Cast it as soon as the hour changes if you want non-stop effects, or
cast it before the hour changes so you don't have to worry about it. But after
the hour changes, you will no longer have faster-training troops, faster
building time, or +10% protection. On a side note, Inspire army is both types of
spells, so when the hour changes, you will no longer have faster training, but
for the expiring hour change, your maintenance will still be lower.

There are 3 reasons this would happen. 1:Elites cost $1 extra for every 3 acres
you grow past 500 acres. 2: Elves have -30% military costs, so their elites are
30% cheaper than the guide says. 3: Likewise, Avians have +10% military costs,
so their elites cost 10% more than what the guide says.

Why am I not listed on the world charts, even though my NW should put me on the
chart?
A.
During protection, everyone's NW grows very rapidly. The updates only happen
every 6 hours, so you could be looking at where the top provinces were 5 hours
ago. Also, the game only updates your acres/NW when you logon, so the charts
might have been updated based on old data from your province.

How much of my TB decays per hour?

0.25% of your TB decays per hour.

Happiness PRETTY OLD NOW <TOP>
Happiness is a new addition to utopia, it replaces Utilization, Both are heavily flawed. The unfortunate thing about Happiness is that if you are hit allot, its allot harder to get the people happy again that it was to get Utilization back up. Happiness relies on several factors. In short, if your province is prospering then your people will be happy, if your province is going backwards your people will not be happy. There is no set figures for this because its something Mehul is trying to hide from the players.
N.B. I personally think Mehul should change Happiness so that if you are gangbanged to a certain % of your acres there are levels of "Patriotism" where your peasants know your province is being attacked hard and will work harder to fix up the province, this will help those being hit hard to getting back on track. Take a real life example, September 11th 2001 when the World Trade Buildings were destroyed by terrorists the people of New York and all across the country worked HARD and FAST to clear the site and repair and keep the economy moving. If this was reflected in utopia it would be very beneficial to the game I believe. Anyway back to the Happiness...
From my short experience with Happiness I have seen that it is effected by these factors.
Trade Balance, If you have a very large negative trade balance it will cause more unhappy people.
Economy, If you are not making much gold each hour the peasants will be more unhappy that if you were making lots of gold each our after expenses.
Draft Rate, It seems if too higher a % of your population is drafted into army your people will be unhappy.
Attacking, It seems that if you hit provinces smaller than you around 50% (Half) your size and smaller the people will be unhappy because of your unfair play, I believe its also in the "HISTORY" the average size of your opponents you hit.
Monarchy, I believe this adds a slightly positive effect to happiness as you are the leader of the kingdom, your peasants think they are somewhat higher than other peasants.
Employment, This is a LARGE factor in happiness, if you have near perfect employment all peasants being employed then the happiness rating will soar, but the more unfilled jobs the more unhappy peasants.
War, it seems Mehul really wants to encourage war among kingdoms so if your at war the people will be more happy.
Thievery, If you thief allot and have a high % success rate the people will be more happy
Growth, If your province grows a certain amount each day the people are more happy
Mystics, If you have good success rate and do lots of magic happiness goes up.
Ok this is a new part to the site, I am going to add in all the Happiness messages I get here and what they mean and how they can be changed for the better or what will make them unhappy. I will try and get the % on some of them as the age goes on.
There are a few things which could influence the changes of these messages
either a % based on the province or a certain number or maybe its compared to
the rest of the server. As more information comes in on actual figures I will
update this area more
NOTE: I did put in allot of effort into this happiness section at first but I
find that its not so much needed for newbie's I mean its more a top player
discussion. I can just suggest things that MIGHT help the happiness level
improve. What I have now done is get premission from BloodRaven to copy in a
section on happiness that he has Researched in the Utopia Temple forums.

For Halflings there is a confirmed
need to have 17.5 raw OPA (including happiness) before the message dissapears.
Raw means here that the total offense points are split by the acres, and no
bonuses or penalties are included.
For Avians, Dwarves, Elves, Humans and Undead the amount of offense is 20 raw
OPA (including happiness) from elites only.
I have not got enough information from Fearies to know for sure if they need
either 17.5 or 20 raw OPA to get rid of this message.
For Orcs i still haven't got any data, but since there are hardly any exploring
orcs, i doubt this is necessary to know.

message also goes away with elites and offense specialists, or offense

Happiness Level Change **
Happiness does change fairly slowly. I do not know for
sure yet, but it seems that the levels between unhappy and joyous are rising/
falling faster then from unhappy down and from joyous up. It seems to be that
happiness levels are changing with 0.08 level per hour at max. That means they
change in 12 hours after their last change has occured.
** Happiness: Gradation in levels or not? **
Quite a lot of people have been asking me whether there
might be a relation between a gliding scale and happiness effects.
I am sure there is not for several messages (pride with bravery, empire growing
fast, shrinking land, craving and annoyed with war and living conditions).
This could however be true for some other messages.
I already assumed this from the very beginning, stating the happiness effects as
a gradation (between 0.5 and 1 entire level)
As you can see, some messages have even received 1.5 to 2 levels.
I have however no hard evidence that there is indeed such a gliding scale.
Finding it would be very very hard to proof, since the growth of happiness is
slow, and most people including myself cannot log in for 12 hours straight for
weeks (neither would i want anyone to do that!)
That makes the fact that Mehul COULD have implemented a gliding scale an option.
I don't feel however that it will in any way hamper the research whether is does
or does not
